BWF Holds Thematic Activities to Celebrate the Forthcoming Children's Day

On May 26, 2019, the Beijing Women's Federation(BWF) held an activity themed “Children Innocence and Children Action” at the theatre of the Cultural Activity Center at the GaoliyingyicunVillage, Shunyi District, to commemorate the International Children's Day, which falls on June 1.

 

Zhang Yajun, Secretary of the Party Group of BWF, Zhang Liang, Vice Secretary of Beijing Shunyi District Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Ma Hongping, Vice-President of BWF attended the event. Relevant personnel from the Department of Family and Children's Affairs of the All-China Women's Federation, Beijing Municipal Education Commission, the Capital Commission for Guiding Cultural and Ethical Progress and Beijing Municipal Caring for the Next Generation Working Committee participated in the event. Other 200 people which included local parent and child representatives, staff from relevant units at the level of municipality, district and township as well as media reporters also attended.

 

The event opened with a video, giving an introduction to five education practiceactivities, namely "Green Children Action”, “Book and Children Action", "Health Care and Children Action", "Safety and Children Action" and "Popular Science and Children Action”, which are carried out by the Beijing Women's Federation on the theme of "Children Innocence and Children Action". Subsequently, students from the Second Primary School of Huairou District, who won the first prize in BWF's solicitation activity of "Writing a Letter to Mom", performed a recital of their works on the spot, expressing their deep love for the motherland,displaying the distinct style of youngstersin the new era showing their love for the motherland and life.

 

Youngsters from Beiyi Children's Art Center staged a dance that added to the festive atmosphere of the event. "Kai Shu", a renowned storyteller, vividly provided instruction on parent-child reading for children and their parentsparticipating the event. The activity came to an end with the song of "My Motherland and Me"sung by all, as a tribute to the 70th birthday of the People's Republic of China.

 

At the event, officials presented certificates to representatives of "Guiding Families", who took part in the "Reading Delights Children's Growth" program featuring parent-child reading, and presented books to representatives of rural children, which is part of rural parent-child reading public welfare activities,as carried out by women's federations at all levels.

 

After the ceremony, children along with their parents enjoyed the musical "You Are a Performer", thereby greeting a happy International Children's Day,experiencing the charm of arts. Participating officialsalso visited grass-roots work sites,including Women's Homes, Children's Homes and Village History Exhibition Hall in Gaoliyingyicun Village, and exchanged views with women and children who took part in the service projects.

 

Celebrations held by BWFmarking theInternational Children's Day this year consist of four parts: First, organize publicity activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of P.R. China and boost patriotism and love for socialism among children. These mainly includeapoetry recital contest titled "I AmProud of You, My Motherland ", the activity of "Writing a Letter to Mom", andshort video solicitation and display activitiesfeaturing "Big Country and Small Home: The Most Beautiful Moment".

 

Second, focus on the cultivation of youngsters in the new era;promote core socialist values so that they would take roots among the young generation; continue to carry out activities, including organizing a series of "Reading Delights Growth"reading activities for parents and their children, creating "Green Families" featuring the theme of "Beautiful Beijing,Family Action", as well as the solicitingand displaying of "Drawing A Family Tree of Mine".

 

Third, work in concerted efforts to optimize the social environment for children's healthy growth. Highlighting the theme of "Children Innocence and Children Action", a series of education practice activities were carried out to celebrate the Children's Day.

 

Fourth, continue to implement family culture season series projects, with a focus on childrenwith special needs. A range of programs of events are carried out , which include the "Helping the Little Sun" community companionship program for children in need;the "Escorting Children's Growing up" activity, which brings safety knowledge to households;the "Space Dream" program, which offers scientific literacy training for kids and their parents, the community growth camp of "Volunteer Storytelling Mother", and "Children's Sports, Growing up Together" parent-child table tennis activities. As part of rural parent-child reading public welfare activities, book donations are made available to Children's Homes in 10 suburban areas.
