A group of officials of the Beijing working committee of caring for the next generations visited the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) on September 15 to guide family work. Led by Liang Wei, director of the Beijing working committee of caring for the next generations, the group visited the Beijing Women and Children Service Center and learned about the construction and operation of the Beijing Family Development Center. A signing ceremony for a special fund for the Beijing working committee of caring for the next generations operated by the Beijing Women and Children Development Foundation was also held during the group's visit.

 

Li Zhaoling, deputy director of the Beijing working committee of caring for the next generations, chaired a symposium. Wu Gaoshan, Zhang Xue and Zhao Xiaowei, all deputy directors of the committee, Liu Xiangdong, Secretary-General of the committee, and Zhao Hongwei and Chen Yanping, both Vice-Presidents of BWF, took part in the activity.

At the symposium, Zhang Yajun, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and President of BWF, introduced the basic situation of the BWF and the development of the cause of women and children across the city, especially covering the implementation of the spirit of the important discourses of Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on the importance of family, family education and family virtues. Zhang also briefed BWF's work on implementing the Family Happiness and Well-being Project through the "developing family culture" "supporting family education" "improving family service" "promoting family research" actions.

Zhang Xue introduced the working committee's achievements in serving schools, helping students, supporting families, and influencing society by setting up platforms to provide services and establishing 40 family-school-community education consultation rooms in Beijing's eight districts and operating relevant media accounts on children's growth. In her speech, Zhang Xue hoped to work with BWF to jointly promote family-school-community education and support the implementation of the "double reduction" policy, a national practice that aims to reduce students' homework and after-school tutoring burden.

In his speech, Liang first spoke highly of BWF's achievements in promoting the development of women and children and implementing the Family Happiness and Well-being Project. He said that the family development center is an effective carrier for carrying out family-related work. He suggested BWF should regard family-related work as the focus of serving women and children. Second, he pointed out that the integration of resources and cooperation are important for the coordinated family-school-community education work. To better care for the next generation, he hoped that BWF will make good use of its teachers, courses and other resources to jointly do a good job in fostering virtue through education, caring for children in need, and popularizing laws. Third, he noted that the use of the special fund should benefit the public based on strict and well-regulated management, so as to help them grow up in a healthy and all-around way.

The working committee and the BWF will establish a regular-communication mechanism to share resources and strengthen cooperation in team building, themed educational activities and poverty-stricken family assistance.
