Meeting Held in Beijing to Mark Int'l Women's Day

Women from all walks of life in Beijing got together on March 2 to celebrate International Women's Day. Winners of the National March 8th Red-banner Holder and the National March 8th Red-Banner Collective awards, and women who have been awarded for making outstanding achievements at their posts, shared their thoughts and feelings in promoting the development of the capital city in the new era during the event.
Qian Suyun, honorary director of the intensive care unit at Beijing Children's Hospital (National Center for Children's Health) Affiliated to Capital Medical University; Wang Rui, a professor from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology; Zheng Shuli, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Committee of the Shuanghe Residential Community in Chaoyang district, Beijing; Chen Hongyan, deputy general-manager of Beijing National Alpine Skiing Co., Ltd; and Wang Yi, vice-president of Renmin University of China, talked about their efforts to promote and get involved in the building of a new development pattern and strive to be a builder of the great cause, promoter of fine social norms and pursuer of dreams.
In his speech at the meeting, Liu Wei, deputy secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC, extended festive greetings to women from all social sectors and those working for women's affairs. 2023 is the first year to fully implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress. It was pointed out at the meeting that women in the capital should remain loyal to the Party and strive in unity to seek positive development and nurture virtues. Local women's federations, at all levels, should closely follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, fully integrate important discourses by General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi on the work of women with the holistic work of women's federations, and make new achievements in the development of women-related affairs. It was noted that the CPC committees and governments at all levels in Beijing should strengthen their leadership over the work on women, resolve difficulties and problems confronted with women-related affairs, coordinate the development of women's and children's affairs with economic and social growth, gather public support for women's development, and foster a positive social environment for women's development and relevant work.
