Yin Li, Secretary of Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), Yin Yong, Deputy-Secretary of Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC and Mayor of Beijing, Li Xiuling, Chairman of the Standing Committee of Beijing Municipal People's Congress, Wei Xiaodong, Chairman of Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Liu Wei, Deputy-Secretary of Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC attended the opening meeting.
In his speech, Yin acknowledged the achievements made in women's cause and the work of women's federations in Beijing. He said that the discourses by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, on the work related to women and children as well as the work of women's federations, have provided the fundamental guideline for women's cause and women’s work on the new journey in the new era. He urged to earnestly study and implement Xi's discourses and he called for thinking and action in line with the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee.
Yin said that Beijing has been working on the implementation of the strategic decisions outlined by the 20th CPC National Congress and trying to take the lead in basically realizing socialist modernization. This provides women with a broad platform to demonstrate their wisdom and talents, and at the same time places higher requirements on them. He asked women from all social sectors to further enhance their sense of responsibility and mission and take an active part in Chinese modernization, and he encouraged them to strive to be builders of the great cause, advocates of civilized social conduct and strivers who pursue their dreams, and make unique contributions to the capital city's reform and development.
Yin stressed that women should unswervingly follow the leadership of the CPC. They should take proactive actions to integrate themselves with the capital city's overall development, shoulder their responsibilities in building the city into a political, cultural, international exchanges and scientific and technological innovation center, and contribute personal wisdom as well as strength to the cultivation and development of new quality productive forces, the promotion of cultural and international exchanges, urban governance, rural revitalization and social security. They should promote virtues and positive family traditions, push for the implementation of core socialist values, carry forward traditional Chinese virtues, build a harmonious family, and maintain friendly ties between neighbors. They should strive to achieve self-reliance, keep positive and enterprising attitudes and hone their professional skills and competitiveness.
Yin emphasized that women's federations at all levels in the capital city should firmly fulfill their obligations, bear in mind responsibility and mission, push for reform and innovation, and strive for the opening of a new chapter in women's cause. The federations should bolster their political guidance capabilities and strengthen capacity building in serving the overall interests. They should mobilize women to actively participate in sci-tech innovation, employment and entrepreneurship, rural revitalization, and the cultivation of a new perception of marriage and childbearing. They should pay attention to women's expectations and needs and give assistance to disadvantaged women and children, and they should strengthen Party building in all aspects, carry out the Party discipline education, and build a team of highly competent and professional cadres. At last, Yin asked the Party committees at all levels across the capital city to strengthen their leadership of women's federations and support women's federations to work in a creative manner.
In her speech, Huang said that under the leadership of Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC, the capital city has made an all-round progress in women's cause and has come to the forefront of the country in terms of the work of women's federations. She noted that local women's federations should take a lead in following Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, advancing megacity governance by fostering family ties, family education and family traditions and implementing pragmatic programs oriented for the enhancement of women and children's livelihoods. They should also strive to be a model in enhancing their political consciousness, their advanced nature and their ability to represent women.
At the opening event, Zhang Yajun delivered a work report on behalf of the 14th Executive Committee of the Beijing Women's Federation.
