BWF Holds Training Camp to Enhance Service Capacity of Leading Social Organizations, Empowering Professionals to Safeguard the Well-Being of Women and Children
Date:2025-9-19 14:20:59 Views:The Beijing Women’s Federation (BWF) held a five-day Leadership and Service Capacity-Building Camp for Social Organizations from September 15 to 19, 2025. The camp aimed to further study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech during his collective conversation with the new leadership of the All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF), fulfill the goals and tasks outlined by the 13th National Women’s Congress, and respond to the ACWF’s Three-Year Action Plan (2025–2027) to Support Women’s Federation Development in the “Three New” Sectors. The program brought together more than 70 participants, including key members from 23 social organizations serving women and children, as well as heads of 22 municipal Sunshine Stations for Women Volunteers.
The camp was guided by the principles of “professional empowerment and practice orientation.” It invited experts such as Professor Li Min, Dean of the School of Social Work at China Women’s University, and Associate Researcher Nan Fang from the Institute of Comprehensive Governance at the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences. They delivered keynote addresses, including “Upholding Party Leadership to Promote the High-Quality Development of Women’s and Children’s Programs” and “Rooted in Families, Serving Society: The Role of Social Organizations in Family Education, Family Culture, and the Building of Child-Friendly Cities.” Through a blend of in-depth policy interpretation and vivid case analysis, the program guided participants to explore innovative ways of integrating the Women’s Federation’s priorities with the professional expertise of social organizations. This approach helped enhance services for women, children, and families.
In addition, the program featured practical insights from Xu Xinyu, Deputy Director of the Beijing Qiyue Center for Philanthropy, Li Tao, Founder of the Beijing Social Work Development Center for Facilitators, Chen Qiong, Director of the Beijing Yichuang Rural Women’s Philanthropic Development Center, and Fang Fang, Head of the Sunshine Station for Women Volunteers at Beiyuan Subdistrict in Tongzhou District. Drawing on exemplary cases, these speakers helped participants learn and apply advanced project design concepts and implementation strategies. They also guided participants in developing service projects that more effectively meet the needs of women, children, and families.
The training also incorporated interactive teaching formats, such as group roundtable dialogues and workshop-style discussions. These activities encouraged participants to share experiences and enhance their skills through a process of “listening, reflecting, practicing, and observing.” This approach helped them gain a deeper understanding of the methods and techniques for supporting women, children, and families. In addition, Sun Bianyou, Founder and Director of the Burn and Scald Care Fund under the China Social Welfare Foundation, delivered a keynote report on the National Burn and Scald Prevention Education Initiative. Meanwhile, Zhang Daiyu, President of the Beijing Aiwenhen Burn Rehabilitation and Care Center, shared insights from related public welfare projects. These sessions highlighted the significance of raising public awareness about burn prevention and first aid education to enhance the protection of lives and well-being.
Participants noted that the training successfully combined theoretical depth with practical relevance. It provided both effective guidance and a valuable reference for planning future social service projects with clear themes and professional standards. Some mentioned that learning about the diverse outreach models of the child burn prevention program provided new inspiration. They also said they plan to incorporate burn prevention knowledge into parent-child activities at Sunshine Stations after the training. Others emphasized that the hands-on group exercises in the service design workshop enabled partners from different organizations to collaboratively develop service solutions. These exercises generated numerous new ideas that will be particularly useful for optimizing future projects.
The Head of the Social Work Department of the BWF stated that this training camp is expected to provide a platform for social organizations to “study policies, share experiences, and build capacity.” It is also intended to serve as a bridge for these organizations to leverage their professional expertise in grassroots community service. It further aims to highlight the exemplary and leading role of Women’s Federation–affiliated social organizations. Moreover, it seeks to fully harness their important contributions to strengthening family education, promoting positive family traditions, and participating in grassroots social governance.
