Dong Le is the Executive Vice President of the Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence (BIGAI). She has long been engaged in the exploration and research of cutting-edge AI technologies, with a focus on computer vision perception modeling in open environments, multimodal semantic understanding and reasoning, and the integration of perception and cognition. She is particularly committed to advancing the industrialization of embodied intelligence based on environmental and behavioral understanding. She has been deeply involved in building theoretical frameworks and cognitive architectures for general artificial intelligence, and leads the development of a large-scale hybrid virtual-real task training and evaluation platform. She also spearheads the development of the internationally benchmarked AI-index, and promotes the creation of an autonomous and controllable general AI operating system, TongOS, along with its programming language, TongPL—aiming to build a full-chain innovation system encompassing theory, technology, platform, and ecosystem.
In advancing the deep integration of industry, academia, and research, Dong Le leads her team in developing vertical-domain platforms for general intelligent agents, overseeing more than ten AI agent projects across domains such as emergency command, safety production, energy, and industrial manufacturing. She has been selected for the Chief Scientist Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, contributed to the Science and Technology Innovation 2030 “New Generation Artificial Intelligence” Major Project, where she has received dedicated support. She has led or participated in more than ten national-level research projects, including key programs under the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In the field of AI, she holds over 30 granted patents and has published nearly 50 papers in leading international journals and conferences.
Dong Le places strong emphasis on cultivating “super-individual” talent—professionals who combine top-tier technical expertise, strategic vision, and industry innovation capability. She actively leads talent recruitment efforts and plays a central role in advancing a Ministry of Education-supported talent development program with a collaborative research framework for general artificial intelligence. At the same time, she promotes new organizational models that break away from traditional hierarchical structures and actively fosters the development of an AI OPC industrial community ecosystem, continuously supplying the field with compound, high-level leadership talent.
