Huang Tao is the Chief Physician at the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Institute of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, and serves as Chair of its professional committee. With more than 30 years of dedication to acupuncture medicine, she is an academic inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage “Cheng’s Acupuncture.” Using acupuncture and herbal medicine as her instruments and compassion as her guiding principle, she fulfills the mission of a physician while exemplifying women’s leadership and strength through both preservation and innovation.

On her clinical front, Huang treats over 10,000 patients annually. Through the precise application of an integrated treatment system combining acupuncture and herbal medicine, she has achieved outstanding results in areas such as women’s health, postpartum rehabilitation, and pediatric asthma, earning the trust of patients as a steadfast guardian of their health. In research and education, she has led multiple projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and other programs, published more than 100 academic papers, and spearheaded the development of a standardized acupuncture terminology system, thereby strengthening the discipline’s theoretical foundation. She has also mentored numerous graduate students and apprentices, cultivating new talent and ensuring the continuity of acupuncture traditions.

Committed to public service, Huang has traveled to Xinjiang and Guizhou to provide medical assistance. In Lingwu City, Ningxia, she established an expert studio that serves as a “health station” for local women and children. In Mentougou District, Beijing, she founded the “Jiusan Distinguished Physicians Studio” and has actively contributed to national initiatives aimed at improving the capabilities of rural doctors. Through these efforts, she has trained thousands of grassroots practitioners, extending high-quality traditional Chinese medicine services to the “last mile” of community healthcare.
