He Yihua, an expert in fetal congenital heart disease, currently serves as director of the Cardiac Ultrasound Medical Center at Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University. As a pioneer in maternal-fetal medicine, He Yihua has always adhered to a patient-centered approach, paved the way for efficient and convenient diagnosis and treatment for patients with fetal congenital heart disease, and made important contributions to reducing the incidence of birth defects and improving the health of the newborns.
In 2013, He Yihua took the lead in building a multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment team for pre-pregnancy, prenatal, and postnatal prevention and treatment of fetal heart disease, tracing to the establishment of the Fetal Heart Disease Maternal-Fetal Medicine Consultation Center, which enjoys a high reputation for its innovative, superb diagnosis and treatment.
The center has been committed to the prevention and control of birth defects for years, establishing and promoting a three-tiered prevention and control system for birth defects based on fetal cardiac and maternal-fetal medicine, conducting ultrasound imaging quality control screening consultations, genetic testing, and consultation for fetal cardiac diseases. It also conducts multi-dimensional interdisciplinary collaboration, such as perinatal management of maternal diseases. As a national demonstration base for birth defect prevention and control, the center covers nearly 100 million people in eastern and western China, serves nearly 100,000 families of gestational age, and works with more than 180 maternal and child health care institutions across the country.
He Yihua is also a doctoral supervisor at Capital Medical University. She has trained more than 50 outstanding graduate students successively and has undertaken national, provincial, and ministerial-level major projects supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The research results were published in 270 articles with He Yihua as the first author or the executive author. Commissioned by the National Health Commission, she led to formulate a guideline on diagnosis, counseling and management of fetal heart diseases and establish the fetal heart disease prevention and treatment committee of the China Maternal and Child Health Association.
He Yihua has also been committed to transforming important scientific research results into affordable products for the people. The largest database for fetal heart disease in China and even the whole world was established by her team in cooperation with teams from Beihang University, Tsinghua University and Peng Cheng Laboratory. Focusing on improving the level of prenatal diagnosis, they have carried out a number of pioneering work, such as big data mining, artificial intelligence product development, and genetic pathogenesis research, promoting the channeling of high-quality medical resources and benefiting doctors and patients across the country. The maternal-fetal consultation platform developed by He Yihua's team for birth defects made a stunning debut at the China International Fair for Trade in Service in 2021 and has been procured.
