Margaret Chan Fung Fu-chun

Margaret Chan Fung Fu-chun is honorary director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO) and founding dean of Vanke School of Public Health, Tsinghua University. Chan was the seventh WHO director-general from January 2007 and June 2017. During her tenure in the WHO, she launched the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) action, led the international community to tackle global health crises, including Ebola and Zika viruses, and built the WHO into a transparent international agency. In 2022, she received an honor for her outstanding fulfillment of political duties as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

In her speech at the forum, she talked about the strength of science and technology, women and cooperation in advancing global public health.
