Shahbaz Khan is director of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) Beijing office and UNESCO representative to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Japan, Mongolia, China, and the Republic of Korea.
Khan joined UNESCO in 2008 at its headquarters as chief of Water and Sustainable Development Division of Natural Sciences Sector, and has taken part in the research and work related to hydrology and sustainable development in Australia, France, Indonesia and Pakistan. Khan has won the Chinese Government Friendship Award for 2019 and the Beijing Great Wall Friendship Award for 2017, and received honorary doctoral degrees from the National University of Malaysia (2016) and the University of Birmingham (2018).
Khan joins the the round-table talk during the forum to share personal thoughts and feelings related to women's strength in the promotion of sci-tech innovation.
