ACWF Honors 10 Women with Top 'Pacesetter' Award Titles

To celebrate upcoming International Women's Day (March 8), officials from the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) have named 10 role-models as National March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetters for making extraordinary achievements in their work.

The awards, announced on February 27, are aimed at motivating individuals to actively participate in the country's social and economic development. Here is a full list of the winners.

Guan Gaiyu from north China's Shanxi Province, is a female track inspection worker of the 17th Bureau Group of China Railway.

Wu Yaqin, a Party secretary of the community in the district of Kuancheng in the city of Changchun, northeast China's Jilin Province has spent the past 20 years serving local citizens wholeheartedly.

Zou Defeng, director of the Medical Service Division of the 4th Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University in east China's Jiangxi Province, has dedicated herself to providing voluntary services for the people in need for 14 years.

Wang Shufang, deputy-director of the China Transport Telecommunications and Information Center, devoted herself to the research and development of the Beidou Navigation Satellite System after graduating from university. The system, self-developed and independently-managed by China, has been in operation since 2000, making China the third country with an autonomous navigation satellite system after the U.S. and Russia.

Lü Miaoxia, president of the Jingmeng Cultivation Cooperative in Luoyang, a city in central China's Henan Province, has pioneered the cultivating of off-season strawberries in greenhouses while actively bringing villagers economic benefits and helping them lead prosperous lives in the past few years.

Wu Dongyan, technician and monitor of the signal team in the Communications Division of the People's Liberation Army Navy on the Liaoning aircraft carrier, has succeeded in completing many major tasks in her career.

Sun Qixiang, dean of the School of Economics of Peking University, which specializes in domestic risk management and insurance, has made great achievements in teaching and in scientific research work.

Gao Shuzhen, secretary of the Party branch in the village of Sanjianxi near the city of Jinan, east China's Shandong Province, has contributed persistent efforts to changing the rural region's appearance for the better and leading local people to prosperity.

Chen Shaofeng, director of the Political Division of the Public Security Frontier Corps Hospital in south China's Hainan Province, has shown wisdom and courage in her work.

Wang Li, general manager of the West China-Frontier Pharmaceutical Technology Company in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, has positively promoted Chinese-made medicines to the international market by bringing about innovations in drug research and development.

The ACWF named 300 women as the National March 8th Red-Banner Award Winners, with 30 people chosen based on public recommendations and another 270 recommended by units and organizations.

Meanwhile, the ACWF also presented around 200 units the title of the National March 8th Red-Banner Collectives, such as a maternity and child hospital in Xicheng District, Beijing.
