20th Beijing-Taiwan Women's Tech Forum Held in Capital

A women-focused technology forum, led by Beijing Women's Federation, took place on September 9 in Beijing.
 
Themed "Women from Beijing and Taiwan Pursue Dreams Together, Win Future Through Entrepreneurship and Innovation", the 20th Beijing-Taiwan Women's Technology Forum was co-sponsored by Beijing, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Women's Association and Taiwan Women Elite Alliance.
 
Around 150 people participated in the event including officials from the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF); Beijing Women's Federation; Party women's committees; related associations; and, entrepreneurs from Beijing and southeast China's Taiwan Province.
 
Officials from both sides delivered remarks at the event.

On behalf of the federation, Cai gave a welcome address to attendees. She said the construction of a recent sci-tech innovation center is one of functional orientations of Beijing. Women are playing a more and more important role in starting businesses and participating in innovation.
 
The federation has been committed to improving women's entrepreneurial and creative ability and motivating large numbers of women to actively throw themselves into mass-entrepreneurship and innovation, she said.
 
Cai believed that women entrepreneurs from both sides will have a wider stage to develop themselves in future.
 
She hoped that women from Beijing and Taiwan could build a "friendship bridge" to deepen mutual understanding as well as boost exchange and cooperation.
 
Cai highlighted the importance of the forum in further strengthening communication and cooperation among women from both sides.
 
Meanwhile, Cai hoped that women can contribute continuous efforts to promoting common development and peace between Taiwan and the Chinese mainland.

In the current era, women are playing an increasingly significant role with their own characteristics, Huang remarked.
 
The visiting representatives from Taiwan work in different fields and are particularly enthusiastic about taking part in public welfare activities.
 
Through the forum, Huang hoped that women from Beijing and Taiwan can learn from each other and make progress in their careers.
 
Du Deping, Deputy-Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office in Beijing
 
Women from Taiwan and the Chinese mainland should positively promote and advocate the development and peace of both sides, adhering to the 1992 Consensus, Du said.
 
Women entrepreneurs and business founders should reinforce cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, science and technology, making a positive contribution to promoting mutual benefits and improving both sides' international competitiveness.
 
Such excellent women should also keep on devoting their wisdom and strength to advancing the cooperation and relationship between both sides.
 
Mu Hong, Director-General of the Liaison Department of the ACWF
 
Mu said in her speech that the forum has played an irreplaceable role in promoting both sides' economic and social development. The forum has highlighted new characteristics and needs in the process of women's growth.
 
Similar exchange activities should be frequently held and further enrich their themes.
 
More efforts should be made to hold activities with women's characteristics to further boost communications of women in both sides.
 
Zhao Haiying, Vice-President of Beijing Women's Federation
 
Zhao presided over the forum. Zhao stated she is excited that the forum can be held in Beijing again.
 
She hoped that the inspirational women from both sides can find more opportunities in cooperation and have a win-win future together.
 
Zhao Hongju, deputy director-general of the Liaison Department of the ACWF, also attended the event.
 
Combing women's characteristics and advantages, 10 women from Beijing and Taiwan talked on topics ranging from traditional culture to the cultivation of talents.
 
During the forum, the federation took women from Taiwan on a tour to visit Zhongguancun Science Park and Beijing Taiwan Guild Hall.
 
After their visit, members of the delegation expressed their admiration for the development of women and children's undertakings in Beijing and expressed thanks for the warm entertainment.
 
They said that they hope to continue keeping up friendly communication with women in Beijing and constantly upgrade the level of their exchanges.
