Not even for a moment.

No matter where I go,

I sing the same tune."

 

Theme tunes in praise of the motherland ring through the capital city of China in the spring. Women in the capital sing praise of the construction of the motherland with their songs, tell stories of the development of the motherland, and express their feelings towards the motherland through written works.

 

To markthe 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the All-China Women's Federation(ACWF) has launched a publicity campaign themed "women followingthe Party's leadership, paying homage to the motherland". On April 13, relevant activities were carried out concurrently at Women's Home activity centersin thousands of communitiesacross the country. On the same day, some 30 such centers in communities in Beijing took part in the event. Residents in the communities set up stages to put on performances compiled and directed by themselves, paying homage to the motherland in the form of splendid arts.

 

ShenYueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress andPresident ofACWF,Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Group ofACWF and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of ACWF,  Wu Haiying,Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of ACWF,Zhao Wen, Member of the Secretariat of ACWF, Zhang Dongmei, Member of the Secretariat of ACWF andChairperson of the Xicheng DistrictCommittee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC),Song Yushui, Vice-President (part-time) of ACWF and Vice-President of Beijing Intellectual Property Court, and Cao Shumin, Vice-President (part-time) of ACWF andSecretary of the Party Committee of BeihangUniversity, participated in the activities respectively in Xicheng, Chaoyang and Dongchengdistricts in Beijing. Wei Xiaodong, member of the Standing Committee and director of the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC)Beijing Municipal Committee, and Yang Yiwen, Vice-Chairman and Deputy Secretary of the Party Groupof Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, also attended the events.

 

In Xinfeng community square of Desheng Street, Xicheng District, residents of the community gathered together,with an inspiring dance Vibratingthe Sky performed by kindergarten children kicking off the event amidst festive atmosphere.

 

Family is the smallest country, whilst a country is made up of tens of millions of families. Representative of the most beautiful families in the country, Dong Yunqi and his wife Zhang Fengming, who was assigned to work in Somalia, Africa providing medical assistance, have jotted down their moments of everyday life during their 838 days of separation, which reflects the deep bond between China and the African country as well as expresses their longing for the family reunion.Their family letters, simple but sincere, fully depicts ordinary Chinese people’sfeelings towards their home and the motherland.

 

The dancing combination Happy Chinabrought out the new vigor of the new era, the beauty as well as the splendor of contemporary life. Soaking in the sunshine of the new era, women in general have broader opportunities for development, assuming the mission of "holding up half of the sky" in their respective work. On site of the event, female representatives from all walks of life voiced their sincerest wishes to the motherland. With untold stories, the attendees conveyed themselves by singing songs together. Music speaks where words fail. The song My Motherland and I is the very sincere expression. The day’s event concluded with the audience waving the national flags in their hands, extending blessings for the motherland by singing the song in chorus.

 

In ShifoyingXili Community Culture Square, Dongfeng Township, Chaoyang District, a square danceIn Praise of the New Age performed by the community residents brought out the theme of the whole event. The beautiful tune of Lauding the Motherlandsings praise the glorious course of China has undergoneover the past 70 years.

 

The activity themed "The ChaoyangPeople—Stories Around Me" features people who tell of their experiences of growing up along with China. Among them are people of the same age with the People’s Republic of China, female gardeners, successful female entrepreneurs, representatives of the “most beautiful” familiesas well as female young entrepreneurs. Stories taking place around ordinary people, true and warm, reflect the development of the motherland, social progress and the wonderful life of contemporary Chinese people in the past 70 years.

 

A 100-meter long scroll was completed on the spot, with more than 40grass-roots calligraphers in the community spontaneously joined in an effort to express their feelings for the motherland with ink and pen. "My motherland and I cannot be parted, not even for a moment..." The whole event ended with the community residents singing the song in chorus, chanting their best wishes for the motherland.

 

In the festive atmosphere of the opening dance Happy Gathering, the Nanli Community Square activities officially kicked off in Donghuashi Street,Dongcheng District. The song I Love You, Chinaignited the most sincere inner feelings of the audience. Under the leadership of the CPC, China has gone all the way towardsgrowth and prosperity. The song Without the Communist Party, There Would Be no New China not only brought the familiar melody to the audience, but also brought out their deep gratitude for the Party and the country. Community residents reciting family letters This Decadevividly demonstrated the civilized demeanor of women and families in the new era. QingyunLiuxiang, a performance by the community model team, fully showcased contemporary women's pursuit of beauty. The activity ended in the familiar tune of My Motherland and I.

Liu Yamei, head of the Publicity Department of ACWF, inspector of the department Zhu Xiaozheng and Vice-Director of the departmentQi Shujuan; BWF’s Vice Presidents Zhao Lijun, Zhou Jing and Ma Hongping, deputy inspectors Liu Ling, Sun Fenglan and Li Xiangfu; Lu YingchuanSecretary of the CPC Xicheng District Committee, Du Lingxin, Director of the Standing Committee of the Xicheng District People's Congress, Cheng Changhong, Standing Member of the district Party committee and Director of the Organization Department of the CPCXicheng District Committee,Chen Tao,Chairman and Secretary of the Party Group of the CPPCC Chaoyang District Committee, and Huang Xiaowei, Standing Member of the Party committee of ChaoyangDistrict, Director of the United Front Work Department and Secretary of the Working Committee of Chaoyang District, GaoLiping, Vice Director of Dongcheng District People’s Congress, attended the event .

 

Also present at the activities were women representatives from all walks of life in the capital, representatives of the “most beautiful” families, women volunteers and community residents.

 

More events are planned. Next, in accordance with ACWF’s unified deployment, BWF will continue to organize thematic activities such as singing patriotic songs, launching publicity campaign amongwomen, and writing a letter to the motherland, with an aimto urge grass-roots women and families to sing patriotic songs, tell good Chinese stories to the world, express their feelings for the motherland and pay tribute to the motherland's 70thanniversary. Toinvolvewomen and their families insuch activities is part of the effort to spark patriotism and national spirit in them, stimulate their feelings for both their home and the nation, so that they would strive to make contributions to the construction of a new era with their practical action.
