On March 20, the Beijing Women’s Federation (BWF) and the Beijing Municipal People’s Procuratorate jointly held a press conference on the protection of women’s rights and interests and representative cases. They respectively introduced their work in safeguarding women’s rights and interests and answered questions from the media.

In 2025, the civil procuratorial departments across the city handled a total of 2,690 cases related to the protection of women’s rights and interests. Four representative cases were released at the conference:

1. A civil case involving disputes over the rights to life, bodily integrity, and health, in which the procuratorate supported the initiation of a lawsuit (He et al)

2. A civil case concerning liability for a non-motor vehicle traffic accident, in which the procuratorate supported the initiation of a lawsuit (Liu)

3. A civil divorce dispute case, in which the procuratorate supported the initiation of a lawsuit (Li)

4. A civil retrial procuratorial suggestion case involving a private lending dispute (Zhang)

These representative cases involve integrated performance of procuratorial functions, supervision over effective civil judgments, and support for litigation. They collectively demonstrate the procuratorial departments’ civil oversight practices in areas concerning women’s personal rights, property rights, and marriage and family rights. They reflect both the professionalism and coordination of procuratorial performance, as well as the unique strengths and responsibilities of the BWF in rights protection services. From multiple perspectives, they communicate and collaborate closely, giving full play to their respective institutional advantages and generating a synergistic effect of 1+1>2 in safeguarding women’s rights and interests.

Over the years, the BWF and the Beijing Municipal People’s Procuratorate have continuously deepened their cooperation mechanism for the protection of women’s rights and interests. They have strengthened collaboration in areas such as the identification and transfer of evidence involving infringements of women’s rights and interests, investigation and case handling, dispute resolution, judicial and comprehensive assistance, research on source-based legal rights protection, and public legal education. They have actively explored ways to address challenges in lead identification, improve the effectiveness of rights protection, and advance root-cause governance.

Procuratorial departments have actively performed their duties by establishing dedicated “Women and Children’s Rights Protection” service windows within the 12309 Procuratorate Service Center, as well as online service platforms. They have continued to make efforts in supporting litigation, evidence collection, and diversified assistance, and have handled every case satisfactorily and efficiently. BWF has actively responded to women’s demands, pooled collective efforts to safeguard women’s rights, strengthened preventive rights protection at the source, enhanced care and support services, and promoted the prevention and resolution of marriage and family disputes, continuously weaving a tighter “protective network” for women’s rights and interests.

Procuratorial departments and the BWF have strengthened cooperation, integrating collaborative performance throughout the entire process of handling cases involving the protection of women’s rights and interests, and building an integrated “Procuratorate + Women’s Federation” protection framework. In handling cases, full consideration is given to women’s specific physiological and psychological conditions, with a proactive, people-centered approach adopted throughout the process. Beyond concluding cases, greater emphasis is placed on healing trauma and providing emotional support, offering judicial protection that is both compassionate and substantive for women involved in cases.

The release of these representative cases not only demonstrates the practical achievements of the rule of law in safeguarding women’s legitimate rights and interests but also serves as an effective measure to promote public awareness of legal protections for women and to foster a social environment conducive to women’s all-around development.
