To safeguard the healthy development of minors and strengthen children’s legal awareness and self-protection skills, on May 28, the Beijing Marriage and Family Dispute Mediation Workstationjointly guided by the Beijing Women’s Federation and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice and established under the Beijing People’s Mediation Associationpartnered with the Haidian District Mediation Association and the Judicial Office of Beitaipingzhuang Subdistrict, Haidian District, to launch a Children’s Day celebration themed “Mediation with Love, Growing Up Safe and Sound” at Xinghuo Primary School in Haidian District, Beijing. More than 130 teachers and students participated in the event.

The featured lecture was delivered by Gao Tingting, winner of the Second Prize in the National Marriage and Family Dispute People’s  Mediation Skills Competition. Focusing on the four fundamental rights of children, the boundaries of family education, and essential child safety principles, she used real-life cases to explain legal knowledge and response strategies related to campus and online safety, guiding students to help others wisely and offer support with care and empathy. During the interactive session, common safety risks frequently encountered among primary school students—such as scams involving free in-game skins, strangers borrowing children’s smart watches, and personal information leaks—were recreated through scenario-based activities. Students were invited to take part in role-playing performances to enhance their risk awareness and strengthen their ability to protect their legitimate rights and interests. At the conclusion of the event, mediation badges were awarded to and pinned on student representatives, and all students wrote down their reflections and learning on colorful paper, bringing the event to a successful conclusion.

Since 2025, the Beijing Marriage and Family Dispute Mediation Workstation has launched a series of campus-based initiatives dedicated to the protection of children’s rights and interests. Through a combination of legal education classes, interactive experiences, and case-based teaching, these programs have steadily advanced public education on children’s rights protection by bringing knowledge on children’s rights, anti-bullying on campus, personal safety, and online protection directly into schools. The initiatives have effectively enhanced minors’ legal literacy and self-protection capabilities, leveraging the power of mediation to support the safe and healthy growth of young people.
