To deepen the study and implementation of the guiding principles of the successive plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important remarks during his inspection of Beijing, the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences (Beijing Municipal Party Committee Lecture Group) jointly hosted the 2026 Beijing Public Speaking Showcase and Core Speakers Training Program. Themed “Building a Strong Nation and National Rejuvenation Through Our Efforts—Vivid Practices Across Beijing,” the event ran from July 30 to August 1. More than 100 outstanding speakers from 20 districts and municipal systems competed at the event, sharing inspiring stories of grassroots contributors from all walks of life across the capital and vividly showcasing Beijing’s concrete actions in implementing General Secretary Xi’s important instructions.

Yun Yantao, a member of the Beijing Women’s Federation’s “Exemplary Women in the Capital” Speakers Group and a representative of Beijing’s Most Beautiful Families, shared her 22-year journey of promoting reading as a public service. Starting with a mini library in her own home, she personally funded the purchase of more than 3,000 books for communities, schools, and remote villages. She also developed the “Coordinates Reading Method” to help children shape their values and worldview, bringing the joy of reading to countless households.

An awards ceremony was held on the final day of the event. Leaders from the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, and the Beijing Municipal Party Committee Lecture Group presented awards to Outstanding Individual Speakers, Outstanding Speakers Groups, and Distinguished Thematic Speakers Groups. The Beijing Women’s Federation’s “Exemplary Women in the Capital” Speakers Group was honored as a Distinguished Thematic Speakers Group at the 2026 Beijing Public Speaking Showcase.
