On the afternoon of August 11, the Office of the Beijing Municipal Working Committee on Children and Women and the Party Committee of Weibo jointly launched the “V-View: Exploring a Child-Friendly City” tour and established the Beijing Child-Friendly City Special Experience Team. The inaugural cohort comprises 20 influential online creators specializing in maternal and infant care, parenting, and education. Among them are parenting bloggers with over 10 million followers across platforms, digital influencers who have long championed public science education and Beijing culture, and seasoned media journalists known for their coverage of current affairs—their combined following reaches 54.498 million. Adopting a child’s perspective from “one meter above the ground,” the team will tour a range of child-friendly spaces and harness the power of new media to promote the principles of putting children first and building child-friendly communities.

At the event, the Office of the Beijing Municipal Working Committee on Children and Women presented the city’s progress in child-friendly development in recent years. A representative from Weibo’s Party Committee said the platform would leverage its reach and partner with leading online creators on field visits to help embed the concept of child-friendliness more deeply in public awareness. A special training session was also held, during which urban planning experts walked through the blueprint for building a child-friendly city, and the Office of the Chaoyang District Working Committee on Women and Children shared the practical results of the “Chaoyang Kids Speak” Children’s Observation Team. Team members expressed their commitment to carefully documenting what they see and learn, leveraging their reach and influence to share child-friendly practices and promote the concept of child-friendliness.

The team then set off on its first round of field visits. Their first stop was the Yumeng Chaoyang Child-Friendly Growth Space, which is recognized as a replicable model of child-friendly space development nationwide and selected as one of Beijing’s exemplary cases for wider promotion. The space features a library, discussion hall, handicraft workshop, and playroom, and regularly hosts activities for community families and children, including parent-child reading, aesthetic education, intangible cultural heritage workshops, and social etiquette classes.

The second stop was Dongheyuan Community in Hepingli Subdistrict, Dongcheng District. Built around its original otter mascot “He Xiaoyan,” the community has developed a six-pillar friendliness framework: senior-friendly, child-friendly, pet-friendly, neighbor-friendly, gig-worker-friendly and eco-friendly. It has also established child-friendly facilities such as a children’s playroom, sports corner and science education garden, vividly demonstrating how child-friendly principles can be integrated into urban renewal.

The child-friendly experience team, composed of leading online creators, will continue visiting child-friendly spaces across neighborhoods, communities, and public service venues. Through short videos, posts, and other new-media formats, they will share their experiences, spotlight Beijing’s child-friendly practices, bring the concept to life in engaging ways, and tell heartwarming stories of child-friendliness. Seeing the city from a child’s one-meter-high perspective, they hope to envision a farther-reaching future and ensure that every child in the city can enjoy a better life.
