To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army’s Long March, bring together and inspire women across Beijing to carry forward the great Long March spirit, and strive for new achievements on the new Long March, the Beijing Women’s Federation successfully held a series of publicity events on the Long March spirit on October 21 and 22. More than 440 people participated, including publicity officials from women’s federations across Beijing, representatives of women’s organizations in the public security, procuratorial, judicial and law enforcement authorities, female university students, representatives of Beijing’s Most Beautiful Families, outstanding female role models, and women from emerging sectors.

Bringing Faith to Life on Stage

On the evenings of October 21 and 22, the Beijing Women’s Federation organized publicity officials from women’s federations, representatives of women’s organizations in the public security, procuratorial, judicial and law enforcement authorities, representatives of Beijing’s Most Beautiful Families, outstanding female role models, and women from emerging sectors to attend micro-lectures on the Long March spirit and watch the revolutionary stage play Red Ribbon: Faith.

Peng Jie of Fanxing Theatre Village, representing the creative team, shared the original inspiration behind Red Ribbon: Faith and her reflections on the Long March spirit. Shi Bo and his mother, Shang Lingjun, representing Beijing’s Most Beautiful Families, spoke in simple, heartfelt terms about how to pass on the Long March spirit and embark on the Long March of the new era. Meng Yunshu, a young official from Chunshu Subdistrict in Xicheng District, spoke as a representative of grassroots women cadres. Drawing on her study of the second volume of Xi's visits to people's homes and her own experience in addressing public concerns and tackling urgent, challenging tasks at the grassroots level, she spoke with deep emotion about how young officials should carry forward the great Long March spirit.

The participants then watched the revolutionary stage play Red Ribbon: Faith. Deeply moved by the revolutionary deeds of women who distinguished themselves during the Long March, they were filled with emotion: ninety years have passed, yet the “red ribbon” remains as vibrant as ever. Our generation must carry forward the Long March spirit and remain firm in our ideals and convictions in pursuit of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. We must sustain our enthusiasm for our work, serve women with dedication and compassion, and translate the spiritual strength drawn from the great Long March spirit into conscious political commitment and purposeful action.

Reliving the Long March: An Immersive Sand Table Simulation

On the afternoon of October 22, the Beijing Women’s Federation partnered with the women’s federations of six universities to organize an immersive sand table simulation titled Retracing the Long March for female university students in the capital.

Guided along the route of the Long March, participants recreated key historical milestones through scenario-based exercises, immersing themselves in the historical context to gain a deeper understanding of the arduous journey. Throughout the simulation, they collaborated in analysis and decision-making, experiencing firsthand the harsh conditions and difficult choices faced along the way. History that had once seemed abstract in textbooks became a vivid, tangible experience.

Through this immersive activity, the students expressed how educational and meaningful the experience had been. The 25,000-li Long March forged an epic of heroism that shook the world and gave rise to the great Long March spirit. As young people of today, we must pass on the revolutionary legacy from generation to generation, continue the struggle, and forge ahead with determination. We must carry forward the great cause pioneered by our revolutionary predecessors and press forward courageously on the new Long March.
