Date:2026-10-26 14:50:21 Views:On October 24, the 2026 World Young Scientist Summit Women Scientists Forum was successfully held in Wenzhou. Co-hosted by the China Society of Image and Graphics, the Beijing Women’s Association for Science and Technology, the Beijing Branch of IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE), and the Women Scientists Working Committee of the World Association of Young Scientists, the forum brought together female scientists, engineers and young scholars from around the world. Under the theme “Women’s Power in Science and Technology in the AI Era: Innovation, Growth and Global Collaboration,” participants explored how women in science and technology can seize opportunities and tackle challenges amid the profound transformation driven by AI, harness the collective power of women, deepen international cooperation in science and technology, and contribute women’s wisdom to sustainable development.

Covering a wide range of fields, from cutting-edge research to the future of everyday life, the forum gathered multidisciplinary insights. During the academic exchange session, speakers including Gao Bo, Deputy Director of the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Du Juan, Researcher at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Wafa Ben Hmida, Chair of IEEE Region 8 Women in Engineering; and Chen Cailian, Distinguished Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, shared the latest progress and innovative practices in their respective fields.

The subsequent roundtable discussions focused on topics such as “Technology for Life and Interdisciplinary Integration of Science and the Humanities” and “Intelligent Technology and Future Living.” Experts from artificial intelligence, advanced displays and sensing, immunochemistry, electrical engineering and other fields drew on their research experience to discuss technological innovation, interdisciplinary integration and global collaboration.

During the forum, the “Fuyao Initiative” was officially launched. It was co-initiated by the Beijing Women’s Association for Science and Technology, the China Society of Image and Graphics, the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE), the Institute of Wenzhou of Zhejiang University, and the Wenzhou World Young Scientists Institute for Science Communication, among others.
The initiative will support project incubation and refinement through the “Fuyao Camp” and organize roadshows and resource matchmaking through the “Fuyao Network.” It aims to connect young scientists’ research achievements with industry, capital and other resources, accelerating the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.

More than 230 participants attended the forum, including representatives of the All-China Women’s Federation, the Beijing Women’s Federation, the Zhejiang Provincial Women’s Federation and the Wenzhou Women’s Federation, as well as women representatives from various sectors.

Since its inception in 2019, the World Young Scientists Summit has been held for seven consecutive editions. At this year’s summit, the 2026 Young Scientist Sustainable Development Goals Award was presented to four Chinese and international scholars, including Researcher Liu Jue from Peking University.
As an organizational member of the Beijing Women’s Federation, the Beijing Women’s Association for Science and Technology remains committed to uniting and mobilizing women in science and technology. Leveraging Beijing’s strengths as a leading hub for high-level talent, the association deepens multi-party collaboration and builds high-level platforms for the professional development, empowerment, exchange and visibility of women in science and technology, demonstrating Beijing’s leading and exemplary role.
Going forward, the Beijing Women’s Federation will continue to fulfill its role in guidance and service, supporting women in science and technology to scale new heights in scientific research and make their mark in the new era.
