Beijing Women's Federation

Invited by the Hong Kong Federation of Women, the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese organized group members of the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) and women's committees of democratic parties to take part in the second Women Power Forum via video link in Beijing on October 23. The activity helped improve communication and mutual understanding of women in Beijing and Hong Kong, and expressed sincere support of women in Beijing for the Women Power Forum.

Women Power Forum was initiated by Pansy Ho Chiu-king, member of the executive committee of BWF, President of the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese and Chairperson of the Hong Kong Federation of Women. Its theme for this year is "Herald a New Chapter of Harmony and Growth for Our World City."

Women representatives from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and international representatives discussed women's growth and development in the fields of business and finance, health and sports, education, art and culture with more than 1,000 participants online and offline. At the forum, Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation delivered a speech via video link. Leung Chun-ying, Vice-Chairperson of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), delivered a keynote speech in a special session at the forum. Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), gave a speech at the opening ceremony of the forum. Liu Guangyuan of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR, and Lu Xinning, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, also delivered speeches.

Zhong Jin, Executive Vice President of the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese presided over a meeting during the forum in Beijing, during which participants exchanged opinions about the future development of cooperation between Beijing and Hong Kong women.

BWF group members such as the Beijing Women Professors Association, Beijing Women Architects Association, Beijing Medical Women's Association and several women's committees of the Beijing municipal committees of democratic parties participated in the activity.

Ho sent a letter of thanks to BWF to express gratitude for its long-term support and help, saying that they cherish the opportunity to share and communicate with women from all walks of life in Beijing through the internet during the COVID-19 epidemic period.
