Beijing Women's Federation

The Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) on December 24 held a meeting to help its Party members and cadres study and implementation of the law on family education promotion. Some 80 attendees including members of BWF's Leading Party Members' Group theory study group and all BWF's cadres attended the meeting offline and about 340 cadres from district-level women's federations attended online.

Yuan Ningning, an associate professor with the China University of Political Science and Law, also drafting member of the law, gave a lecture at the meeting. He introduced the background, significance, framework and highlights of the legislation process and shared ideas on how to raise children properly in accordance with the law. Also, Yuan interpreted the concepts, mechanism and good methods of family education, and advised on how to use service systems and coordinate work on family education, which helped women's federation cadres understand the significance and contents of the law and provided theoretical support and practical guidance for cadres to publicize the law and fulfill women's federations' legal duties related to family education.

 

According to the meeting, the law on family education promotion embodies the spirits of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on families, family education and family traditions and elevates family development from "house affairs" to important "state affairs" in the new era. Intending to give play to women's federations' advantages, the document clarifies women's federations' legal responsibilities and gives directions of their work related to family.

 

It was agreed that women's federations should undertake an in-depth study of Xi Jinping's important expositions on families, family education and family tradition, as well as make efforts to correctly understand and implement the law of family education promotion from the perspective of realizing the Chinese nation's great rejuvenation. Furthermore, they should fulfill their responsibilities, deepen coordinated promotion, strengthen popularization and guidance services, improve the mechanism of family-school-society cooperation in educating children and the system of family education guidance service, and promote caring activities on a regular basis. Women federations should lead women in the capital to play their unique role in carrying on family virtues and fostering good family traditions and promoting high-quality family education.
