BWF Holds Live-stream Activity for Women Role Models to Share Inspiring Stories

To implement the spirit of the important speeches made by Chinese President Xi Jinping, also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, to set the stage for the upcoming 20th National Congress of the CPC, and to follow relevant decisions endorsed by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) held a live-stream activity for outstanding women to share their inspiring stories on June 30. The activity was live-streamed through ACWF’s official accounts on WeChat, and short-video platforms Kuaishou and Douyin, gaining 200,000 views.  

Four women role models from different fields in Beijing told stories that captured their decade-long perseverance in and commitment to the realization of their original aspiration and dreams during the event. In her speech, Chen Rumei, a recipient of the National March 8th Red-Banner Holder award, researcher with the Biotechnology Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), highlighted the achievements she and her team attained in the research of advanced transgenic maize based on frontier agricultural and biological technologies and major national development strategies.

Sun Qiwei, a recipient of the National March 8th Red-Banner Holder award and Party chief of Xiangshan Park, talked about the efforts she and her colleagues made to pass down revolutionary traditions and culture.

A research team of navigation and control from the Beijing Institute of Technology, who is winner of the National March 8th Red-Banner Collective award, spoke about their practice of integrating pursuit in science into making contributions to China’s scientific and technological development.  They have devoted themselves to national defense and security.

Duan Jiali, an award-winner for her outstanding contributions to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, head of a public health team at the Beijing Winter Olympic Village and director of the health promotion office of the Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control, reviewed the glorious contributions made by staff at the Beijing Winter Olympic Village to prevent the occurrence and spread of COVID-19 and to prioritize the interests of athletes from across the world.

BWF will continue to hold similar story-sharing events and invite exemplary figures from all walks of life in the capital city to make their inspiring stories known and to demonstrate beautiful life and spread happiness around us in the new era.
