A conference is held for women’s federations in Beijing to study and act on the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

 

Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) held a conference on October 31 via video link to study and act on the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) which concluded on October 22. Zhang Yajun, Secretary of the Leading Party Group and President the BWF, conveyed the guiding principles of the key Party congress to attendees, made arrangement on the implementation of decisions and policies of the CPC Central Committee and the requirements of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), and outlined guidance for women's federations at all levels in the capital city to strengthen their study and implementation of the guiding principles. She called on women's federations at all levels in the city to take the study, publicity and implementation of the guiding principles of the key congress as the most important political task now and in the future, fully study, grasp and implement them, promote the comprehensive implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, uphold the establishment of both Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as well as Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and uphold the Central Committee's authority and its centralized, unified leadership. They should bear in mind the country's most fundamental interests, give full play to the role of women's federations as bridges connecting the Party and the people, lead women in Beijing to rally closely around the CPC Central Committee and strive in unity to build a modern socialist country in all respects, and advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts.

The conference noted that the 20th National Congress of the CPC held high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, pooled strengths and forged ahead in unity to mark a milestone in the history of the Party and the country. Xi's report, which charted the course for advancing the cause of the Party and the country on the new journey of the new era and for achieving the second centenary goal of building a modern socialist country in all respects, was a political declaration that the Party will unite and lead the Chinese people of all ethnic groups to secure a new victory of socialism with Chinese characteristics and a guiding document adapting Marxism to China's conditions.

The conference stressed that women's federations at all levels in Beijing must earnestly follow the overall requirements of the five major principles proposed by General Secretary Xi in his report at the Party congress, fully grasp the decisive significance of the establishment of both Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to the development of the cause of the Party and the country and the realization of national rejuvenation. They should become more purposeful in closely following the CPC Central Committee in thinking, political stance, and action, stay confident in the path, the theory, and the system, and maintain the culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics. They must uphold Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole as well as the Central Committee's authority and its centralized, unified leadership, firm up the ideals and foster talents with the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and rally women closely around the Party.

The conference emphasized that women's federations at all levels in Beijing should gain a good command of the worldview and methodology of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, put the people first, and strengthen the line of connecting and serving women in their work, stay confident and self-reliant, and adhere to the development path of women's affairs with Chinese characteristics. They are also expected to uphold fundamental principles and break new ground, and promote innovative development of their work and organizational building, stick to the problem-oriented approach, and make their work more precise and effective. They must also pursue a holistic approach in serving and facilitating the development of the Party’s overall work and consolidate public support for theoretical innovation of the Party. They should closely align with new thought, new judgment, new arrangements and requirements as defined by the key Party congress, and evolve around the principal task of high-quality development. The federations should make full use of the capital city's educational, technological and human resources, lead women to make new achievements in the implementation of the strategy of reinvigorating the country through science and education, the rural revitalization strategy and the building of a modern industrial system, and mobilize themselves to become builders of the great cause, advocates of civilized social conduct and strivers who pursue their dreams. It is necessary for them to act for and rely on the people, guarantee and improve the livelihoods of women in the pursuit of common prosperity, and guide women and their families in the building of a better life through concerted efforts. The federations are looked to for fostering of stronger family ties, values and traditions in the practice of core socialist values, and for utmost efforts to help women resolve their pressing and urgent difficulties, constantly enhancing the sense of fulfillment, happiness and security among women and children. They should safeguard the lawful rights and interests of women and children in advancing the rule of law in China, and help maintain social stability in the capital city. They must fully understand the importance of self-reform in guiding social transformation, stick to the overall leadership of the Party, and bear in mind the political nature of people's organizations. In doing so they will strengthen their own Party building, advance the reform and development of women's federations, give full play to their role as bridges connecting the Party and the people, and ensure they strengthen their political consciousness, advanced nature, and orientation toward the people. The federations must fully understand that striving in unity is the remarkable symbol of the Party and the Chinese people, and continue to rally women closely around the Party to make new historic achievements.

The conference said that women's federations at all levels in Beijing must launch campaigns to study, publicize and act on the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, promote the implementation of the guiding principles of the congress with concrete results, set an example for those below them, attach great importance to the study of Xi's important speeches at the congress and integrate the study of the speeches with the study of the original texts of Xi's report and the newly amended Party Constitution. Further, they are expected to firmly and thoroughly implement important instructions made by Xi about the development of Beijing, and act on his important discourses about the work of women, children and families and the new requirements as set out by the congress on the work of women, children and families. They should strengthen ideological guidance, stick to correct guidance, and organize officials and executive members of women's federations as well as Party delegates to convey the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress by lecturing among government departments, public institutions, residential communities, campuses, new social and business bodies and families. Following the strategic decisions of the 20th CPC National Congress, Beijing’s women’s federations must bring about concrete results in fulfillment of the requirements of the CPC Central Committee, the Beijing municipal Party committee and the ACWF pertaining to the work of women and children.

Those in attendance at the conference included full-time and part-time vice-presidents of the BWF, officials and staff workers of the BWF, as well as officials from 16 district-level women's federations and the women's working committee of the Beijing Economic & Technological Development Area.
