Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) held a conference on January 6 on learning lessons from typical cases and rectifying existing problems. Zhang Yajun, Secretary of the Leading Party Group and President of the BWF, attended the conference and gave a speech. Wei Jiang, Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Group and Vice-President of the BWF, presided over the event. Those in attendance of the meeting included all members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) of the BWF and heads of affiliated public institutions of the BWF.

The conference aimed to earnestly study and implement the guiding principles of the 20^th CPC National Congress and the 13^th Beijing Municipal Congress of the CPC, follow the spirit of the municipal warning education conference, inspect existing problems, act on the principles of drawing lessons from typical cases and rectifying existing problems, educate and guide CPC members, make self-improvements, foster an inner strength to never be corrupted by wealth or power, and exercise full and rigorous self-governance.

Zhang said that all CPC members and cadres of the BWF should draw lessons from various typical violations of disciplines and laws, align thinking and actions with the requirements of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC, deepen the implementation of the guiding principles of the 20^th CPC National Congress, carry out self-reform, and further enforce full and rigorous self-discipline within the CPC.

Zhang called on all CPC members and cadres of the BWF to bear in mind that full and rigorous self-governance is an unceasing endeavor, and that self-reform is a journey to which there is no end. She stressed the need for efforts to meet the overall requirements for Party building in the new era, improve the systems for exercising full and rigorous self-governance, comprehensively advance the Party’s efforts to purify, improve and reform, and drive the high-quality development of the work of women's federations at all levels in the capital city.

Zhang urged all CPC members and cadres of the BWF to fulfill their duties in the following three aspects:

First and foremost, they shall strengthen Party building politically, bear in mind the political functions of the capital city, acquire a deep understanding of the significance of the establishment of both Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; uphold the establishment of both Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, safeguard Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and uphold the CPC Central Committee's authority and its centralized, unified leadership; keep in alignment with the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core in political stance, direction, principles and path; arm themselves with theories; attach great importance to theoretical studies; fully leverage the role of the Leading Party Group's theoretical study group; enhance cohesion and forge the CPC's soul with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, consolidate spiritual foundations for those who are loyal, upright and responsible; strictly enforce political disciplines and rules, adhere to a procedure-based system, and ensure the full implementation of policies and decisions made by the CPC Central Committee and the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC.

Secondly, they shall fully exercise self-governance, spreading the pressure felt by all relevant people, ensure the observation of self-governance within the CPC at different levels, and strive in unity to promote self-governance. Secretaries of the leading Party groups are the first to be held accountable for self-governance. Members of the leading Party groups and director-level officials must be responsible for  both Party-related work and their prescribed duties and attach equal importance to strengthening political-building affairs and accomplishing the main work. Heads of grassroots CPC committees are expected to further strengthen their sense of responsibility, conduct regular guidance and inspections, take the lead in the fulfillment of personal duties, accept supervision, discipline themselves and colleagues, and endeavor to complete all types of work.

At last, they shall strive to foster and develop a political atmosphere of integrity within the CPC, strictly follow rules and disciplines, earnestly implement the CPC Central Committee's eight-point decision on improving conduct and other corresponding measures, continue to tackle pointless formalities, bureaucracy, hedonism and extravagance, keep an eye on those who fail to fulfill their duties, rectify existing problems in a scientific and precise manner, advance the CPC's mass line in the new era, stick to the fundamental principles of serving the people wholeheartedly, develop a tradition of solving specific problems for people at the grassroots level, strengthen connections with women, make the care of the CPC accessible by women and their families, strive to curb corruption and win the battle against any corrupted behaviors, regularly warn CPC members and cadres against the violation of rules, disciples and laws, guide them to strictly abide by all rules, disciplines and laws, and have no desire to engage in corruption and to live and work with honesty and integrity.

Noting that the year 2023 is the first year in the implementation of the guiding principles of the 20^th CPC National Congress, Zhang said that all CPC members and cadres of the BWF should remain true to their mission, discipline themselves, consolidate the defense line, strive in unity to foster a group of cadres who are politically competent, ready to shoulder their responsibilities and are disciplined in conduct, further advance full, strict self-governance within women's federations, and provide a solid political guarantee for the development of the cause of women and children in the new era.
