On March 8, upon the arrival of International Women's Day, Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) extended special festive greetings to six women working and living in the capital city, and they sent good wishes to global women online.

Among them, Lin Xiaoxia has worked in the courier sector for over three years and become an awardee of the Most Beautiful Women Strivers in Beijing in 2022. She hoped that all women can earn praise for their sweat and toil and make their own efforts known.

Zhang Yu is a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and an honoree of the Most Beautiful Women Strivers in Beijing in 2022. She has gained rich experience from her participation in the technology-driven poverty relief projects of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and pair-up assistance to Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. She hoped that women will become further empowered through technology, and that both technology and innovation will promote their development.

Yuan Mengqian is director of the Beijing Echo-kids Public Welfare Development Center. During an activity of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, she and her co-workers called on the international community to create opportunities for women to fully, equally and effectively take part in the protection of biodiversity.

Jaclyn Dam Laute, a dentist from US, also received the greeting from BWF. Beijing has become her second home. She called on all women to pay more attention to their health and to hold their future in their own hands.

Kim Eunji is a media worker from the Republic of Korea (ROK). Ekaterina Kaligaeva is a student from Belarus. Both of them have lived in Beijing for several years and they hope they will help strengthen cultural exchanges and consolidate friendship between China and their home countries.

All women have played multiple roles at home and in social life. They have shown full confidence and determination to climb high mountains. Beijing has provided them an inclusive and open platform for self-development, and they have, in turn, contributed greatly to the development of the city.

With the support of the foreign affairs offices of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Beijing Municipal People's Government, the annual celebration of International Women's Day has become a brand activity for BWF to promote people-to-people exchanges.
