The list of the Capital’s Most Beautiful Families for the second quarter of the year 2023 was released recently. The Looking for the Capital’s Most Beautiful Families campaign was held jointly by the Beijing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection, the Beijing Municipal Supervisory Commission, the Organization and Publicity departments of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Beijing Municipal Office for Cultural-Ethical Progress, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF). Seventy-five role model families, represented by the families of Liu Chuang, Liu Shulan, Sun Tingting and Chen Duo, are on the list.

The Family of Liu Chuang: Dedicated to Promoting the Development of China's Aerospace Science, Technology

Liu Chuang is director of the dynamic environmental testing laboratory of Beijing Institute of Spacecraft Environment Engineering. He has taken part in the research of spacecraft's structural dynamics and mechanical environment testing, and presided over dozens of major national mechanical tests related to the space station, Mars probes and remote-sensing satellites. He has undertaken lots of national-level research projects, and won over 20 national invention patents over the past decades.

The remarkable achievements made by Liu has been inseparable from the support and sacrifices done by his family. Under the positive influence of his mother, who was a teacher, he has always remained committed to his work. During the COVID-19 epidemic, he successfully accomplished all assignments in the business tours. Meanwhile, Li Li, Liu's wife, has tried to strike a balance between work and family. His daughter is an outstanding student in school.

The Family of Liu Shulan: Forging a Harmonious Family with Fine Family Traditions

Liu Shulan was conferred with a municipal-level award for her adherence to the long-held Chinese filial piety traditions in 2010. The four-generation family was named a Capital’s Reading-Loving Family in 2015 and a National Reading-Loving Family in 2017.

Liu and her husband have reached an agreement that they shall never argue with her father-in-law (who is 97 years old) over anything. They have helped the family renovate the house and allowed the elderly to live in the room that is well lighted.

What's more, the family has closely followed the principle of integrity and friendliness in the management of their store, earning great respect from their employees and customers.

The Family of Sun Tingting: Fostering Family Traditions of Integrity and Cleanness

Sun Tingting is engaged in discipline inspection and supervisory work. She is responsible for the supervision over the implementation of pro-employment policies and measures and the management of social insurance funds as well as large amounts of capital. She has done her part in advancing the high-quality development of the capital city.

Wang Nan, Sun's husband, is a community worker. He has taken utmost efforts to meet the demand of the people and remained prepared to help those in need of assistance. The couple never ask information of mutual work and seek personal profits at the expense of public interests.

At home, Wang and Liu share the burden of taking care of their parents and daughter and guide the girl to develop positive values and fine attitude toward money and consumption since childhood.

The Family of Chen Duo: Being a Witness to the Fast Development of China's TV Industry

Chen Duo is a former veteran TV host with the China Central Television (CCTV). He has grown from a young actor to a versatile TV anchor, witnessed and participated in the remarkable development of the country's TV industry.

After his retirement, Chen, who is also a member of the China Association for Promoting Democracy and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, has proactively taken part in discussing and handling state affairs and come up with proposals concerning hot issues of public livelihoods at the annual Two Sessions.

The couple has shared household chores and their parenting duties at home. Their son has also entered the cultural sector. Chen has often lent a helping hand to his son and taken part in other public cultural activities.

According to the BWF, this year's Looking for the Capital’s Most Beautiful Families campaign will select a group of role-model families to deepen the publicity and implementation of the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, act on important discourses by General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping on family, family education and family traditions, promote positive family values of new era and the building of a harmonious society.

It is scheduled to release a list of most beautiful families each quarter and an annual list of 300 role model families and a concurrent list of the 10 most beautiful families in the capital city at the end of year, make their stories widely known. It will promote the building of new socialist family traditions, which stress love of country and family, mutual love and assistance, the pursuit of benevolence and excellence, and the building of an inclusive society.
