The Committee for Party Affairs of Departments Directly under the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Beijing Women's Federation jointly held a publicity activity at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) on the afternoon of August 10. The event’s purpose is to continuously promote the in-depth implementation of the education campaign on the study and implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and pool women's strength for flood relief and post-disaster reconstruction.

The publicity event drew the attendance of four women representatives from cultural and transportation industries, who were also delegates to the 20th CPC National Congress. They shared personal stories related to the guiding principles of the congress with attendees and their participation in the flood relief and reconstruction works.

Wang Hongling, who has been conferred with the title of “women pacesetters for achievements” at national level, is Party secretary and head of Beijing Hebei Bangzi Opera Troupe. She has earned wide recognition among her fans and is committed to further promoting the popularity of her opera troupe and Hebei Bangzi Opera. In her speech, she shared heartwarming stories that happened to her in the implementation of flood reliefs, the collection of public donations for flood-affected people and the fulfillment of personal obligations.

Jia Xiaohong, a senior journalist and deputy director of the Department of Science, Education, Health and Press of the Beijing Daily, has worked on the front line of news reports for years, witnessed the fast development of the capital city, and got involved in the coverage of major public health incidents over the past years. During the historic torrential rainfall from July 29 to August 2 in Beijing, she rushed to the front line to cover what was going on in the flood-affected areas and made touching stories in the flood relief known. She said in her speech that a journalist shall always remain prepared for any news.

Qingele Jirigele, a National March 8th Red-Banner Holder and chief scientist from the Shougang Research Institute of Technology, has worked on sci-tech research for 18 years. The sci-tech achievements made by her and her teammates have played a vital role in further cutting carbon emissions of the steel industry and pushing the green and high-quality development of the sector.

Chang Hongxia, a national labor model, a Beijing March 8th Red-Banner Medal winner and a bus driver from the No. 4 branch of Beijing Public Transport, rushed to the flood-affected areas in Tanzhe Temple, in Mentougou district, to transport local people to safe places and support the reconstruction in collaboration with her colleagues. She used her own inspirational stories to vividly explain how they assisted passengers.

Outstanding employees from the National Center for the Performing Arts receive donated copies of two books at the event.

During the event, attending officials presented copies of a compilation of excerpts from discourses by General Secretary Xi on the work related to women and children as well as the work of women’s federations, and a book about the the interactions between General Secretary Xi and the people in his domestic inspection tours to representatives of staff workers from the NCPA.

In addition, the four speakers interacted with the audience based on their experience in the flood relief and reconstruction work. For their part, the audience said that the publicity event further bolstered their fighting morale and that they will draw inspiration from exemplary figures, achieve tangible results in carrying out the education campaign on the study and implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. They will make unique contributions to safeguarding the homeland, improving public wellbeing and ensuring social stability.
