Final Appraisal for 2nd Beijing, HK and Macao Children and Teenagers' Painting Contest Completed in Beijing

The second Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao Children and Teenagers' Painting Contest, titled "Beautiful China, I am a Little Environmental Guardian," was held by the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese under the guidance and support of the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF), the Hong Kong Federation of Women (HKFW), and the Women’s General Association of Macao.

The theme contest drew the attendance of 5,064 children and teenagers from Beijing, and Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions. A total of 430 artworks were recommended to qualify for the preliminary competition after an online review by experts from the three regions.

On August 13, 10 judges from Beijing, Hong Kong, and Macao gathered in Beijing to conduct the final appraisal. Wong Yu Pok Marina, vice-president of the HKFW, and the person in charge of the BWF Liaison Department attended and addressed, the final evaluation.

The judges check the entry works during the final appraisal.

 

During the final evaluation, Zhang Chun, executive chairman of the judge panel and head of the School of Arts at Renmin University of China, announced the criteria, methods and disciplines. The selection of entry works was conducted in accordance with three categories (kindergarten, primary school and middle school) in the form of group voting.

The judge panel followed the principle of protecting and respecting the rights of contestants and cast their votes from the perspectives of thematic expression, imagination and creativity, and artistic expression on the basis of fairness and impartiality.

They finally presented special awards to six entries, the first-prize awards to 46 entries, the second-prize awards to 90 entries, the third-prize awards to 140 entries, and outstanding awards to 148 entries.

The judges have a discussion during the final appraisal.

 

In its next step, the contest’s organizing committee will hold awarding ceremonies and exhibitions for honored works in Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao, respectively, from August to November.
