Awarding Ceremony of Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao Children’s Painting Contest Held in Beijing

The awarding ceremony of the second Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao Children and Teenagers' Painting Contest, titled "Beautiful China, I am a Little Environmental Guardian," was held by the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese on August 25. It was held under the guidance and support of the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF), the Hong Kong Federation of Women (HKFW), and the Women's General Association of Macao (WGAM) online and on site. 

The awarding ceremony of the second Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao Children and Teenagers' Painting Contest is held in Beijing.

 

The ceremony also marked the opening of the first leg of the exhibition of the painting contests award-winning works in Beijing. It drew the attendance of Song Wei, deputy director-general of the Liaison Department of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), Tan Hong, Vice-President of the BWF, and Zhang Chun, executive president of the judge panel and dean of the School of Arts at Renmin University of China.

Pansy Ho Chiu-king, president of the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese, Wong Yu Pok Marina, Vice-President of the HKFW and Lau Kam Ling, President of the WGAM, attended the ceremony via video link. Zhong Jin, executive vice-president of the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese, presided over the event.

Tan said that the contest was to further deepen the implementation of the important discourses by General Secretary Xi Jinping on urging those who work for childrens welfare endeavor to become a guide for children's growth, a guardian for children's rights and interests, and a builder for children's future. Tan called on the public to take concrete actions and play a leading role in the implementation of the concept that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.

Ho congratulated the award-winners and said that General Secretary Xi has underscored the importance for schools to further strengthen and improve their aesthetic education. She added that the contest was designed to plant the seed of environmental protection and aesthetic training in children's hearts and foster talents with moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic grounding, in addition to a hard-working spirit.

Wong expressed her hope that the acitivity would inspire the general public to make concerted efforts in environmental protection, and futher promote communication and exchanges among children from Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao.

Lau said that the contest has further raised children's awareness of environmental protection and that she was delighted to see from the childrens works their emotion and aspiration for the building of Beautiful China initiative.

Zhang said that aesthetic training is of vital importance to ensuring children's healthy growth, helping them show full respect to life, and bolstering their moral standards. He added that the contest has created a new bridge for Beijing and the two special administrative regions to advance their cultural and artistic cooperation on aesthetic enlightenment.

The theme contest received 5,064 artworks in the two-month-long duration. The judges panel presented special awards to six entries, the first-prize awards to 46 entries, the second-prize awards to 90 entries, the third-prize awards to 140 entries, and outstanding awards to 148 entries.

Additionally, 66 teachers were awarded for their outstanding tutoring work.

Award winners received certificates, trophies and prizes. Jing Chuchu, Wang Shiyuan and Li Baishen represented honorees from the three regions to address the event.

The theme exhibition will be also held in Hong Kong and Macao after the week-long show in Beijing. A forum on aesthetic training for children and teenagers will also be held in Macao.

Those in attendance of the ceremony also included representatives of Beijing Liaison Department under the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macao, the United Front Work Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC, the United Front Work Department of the Dongcheng District Committee of the CPC, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Government of Chaoyang District, Beijing Women and Children's Development Foundation, Beijing Association of Women Kindergarten Principals, Beijing Women Artists’ Association, and Capital Women Journalists’ Association.
