Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) held a training session to bolster the professional competence of staff workers from women's federations and telephone operators of the hotline 12338 from September 6 to 8.

The training is held to comprehensively implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and to act on the newly revised Law on the Protection of the Rights and Interests of Women, and raise the political and theoretical literacy and capabilities for anti-domestic violence work of staff workers from women's federations.

Sixty people, which included vice-presidents, director-generals of legal departments and staff workers of the women's federations of Beijings 16 districts and the working committee on women of Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, and hotline operators, attended the event.

Zhang Rongli, an associate professor with China Women's University (CWU), gave a lecture on the protection of women's physical safety and personality rights and the promotion of cross-department cooperation, laying a solid theoretical foundation for the work of women's federation cadres.

Li Mingshun, another professor with CWU, talked about the achievements made by China and the requirements for women's federations in the protection of women's lawful rights and interests in the new era. The lecture helped trainees grasp a deep understanding of Marxist views on women, and enhance their professional competence. Additionally, trainees visited an office for the mediation of marriage and family disputes in Pinggu district.

During the training session, staff workers and hotline operators had in-depth discussions over difficult issues in the protection of the lawful rights and interests of women. They shared their valuable experience, and explored practical measures to further advance their work.

Furthermore, cadres from BWFs legal department gave an interpretation and made arrangements of key objectives of the capital city in safeguarding women's lawful rights and interests. It outlined major tasks for the city concerning anti-domestic violence, the publicity and education of women-oriented laws, and the mediation of marriage and family disputes.

Attendees said that the training event was very useful and relevant for them to better embrace new opportunities and challenges, and enhance their theoretical literacy as well practical skills in guarding the lawful rights and interests of women in the new era
