Beijing Unveils WeChat Mini Program to Promote Building of Child-friendly City

It is of great importance for Beijing to adhere to the children-first principle and showcase the capital city from children's perspectives in the building of a child-friendly city. The Beijing Municipal Working Committee on Children and Women launched a WeChat mini program on September 15.

The newly launched mini program is designed to be an open and dynamic platform for the building of a child-friendly city. It aims to guide the public to foster the child-friendly development philosophy Viewing the city from childrens perspective, facilitate the building of children-first social environment and the consensus on loving and caring for children, and forge synergy among the public in the construction of a child-friendly city.

Building an Online Platform

The logo and slogan for Beijing to promote the building of a child-friendly city are on the front page of the mini program, which also consists of several parallel sections related to policies, services, rights, space and environment.

In the information section, users can find what they want to learn about the building of a child-friendly city in terms of policies, services, rights, space and environment along with relevant activities.

The section of child-friendly image exhibits such cultural products as theme logo, slogans, pictures and short videos concerning the building of a child-friendly city. It also covers the background and connotation of logo design, which help the public grasp a deep understanding of child-friendly philosophies, and displays children's paintings collected during theme activities in 2022.

Creating a Child-friendly Brand "Me and My City"

With the launch of the mini program, the Beijing Municipal Working Committee on Children and Women and the mobile app of Beijing Radio & Television Station kicked off a campaign to collect children's literary and artistic products under the brand of "Me and my city."

The campaign will guide and encourage children to narrate their stories with Beijing and foster a sense of master of the capital city via painting, photography, writing and singing. Children can take part in the online event and award-winning works will be exhibited through various channels.

The child-friendly brand building will involve five special actions both online and offline, which highlight children's participation, empowerment, protection and care for children, the building of service platforms, and publicity, in a move to help the public show their due respect to children.

Creating a Child-friendly Voice Map

The mini program will organize children to be voice guides for 100 contracted service venues, which include museums, exhibition halls, libraries, stadiums, science popularization sites, the centers of performing arts, parks, green space and playgrounds. The voices will be available on the child-friendly voice map in a long term.
