Event Held in Beijing to Mark Int'l Women's Day

A symposium was held in Beijing on March 7 to mark International Women's Day, which falls on March 8.

It was attended by women representatives such as National March 8th Red-banner Pacesetters and National March 8th Red-banner Holders as well as National March 8th Red-banner Collectives, who talked about personal experience and feeling in advancing the high-quality development of economic and social affairs in the capital city.

Huang Huilin, a senior professor and president of the Academy for International Communication of Chinese Culture of Beijing Normal University, Wang Shu, director of Breast Surgery Department at Peking University People's Hospital, Meng Ermei, Party secretary of Luopoling Residential Community in Mentougou District, Dou Guimei, principal of Tsinghua University Primary School, and Song Weiping, deputy secretary of Party Committee of Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control, shared with attendees about how they strive for outstanding performance and pursue dreams at the workplace in the new era.

Liu Wei, deputy secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, attended and addressed the symposium. He extended festive greetings to women from all social sectors and workers for women's affairs upon International Women's Day.

The symposium called on women across the capital city to nurture their soul with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, make personal contributions to the building of a modern country with local practices, and shine in the cultivation of new social trends in the new era. The symposium asked women's federations at all levels in the capital city to press ahead with parallel actions in aligning the mind and action of women with the Party, striving for excellence, offering high-quality family services and better protecting the legitimate rights and interests of women and children. The federations should also expand their coverage and make full use of their roles in bridging women with the Party and the government. The symposium said that the Party committees at all levels in the capital city should strengthen their organization and leadership of the work concerning women, children and women's federations, and promote the building of a better social environment that show full respect to women and children and express full support for relevant work. The symposium said that the working committees on children and women at all levels should fully leverage their organization, coordination, guidance and supervision roles and ensure that all women and children reap benefits from the country's modernization drive on an equal footing.
