BWF Holds Gathering to Mark Int'l Women's Day

Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) held a gathering at Beijing Women and Children's Service Center on the afternoon of March 12 to further strengthen the unity of women from all social sectors and mark International Women's Day. The special gathering was attended by Zhang Yajun, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and President of the BWF, Tan Hong, Vice-President of the BWF, heads or representatives of BWFs group members, including Capital Women Professors Association, Beijing Women's Association for Science and Technology, Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese, Beijing Women Architects Association, Beijing Medical Women's Association, Beijing Women Judges Association, Beijing Women Procuratorates Association, Beijing Policewomen' Association, Beijing Women Lawyers' Association, Capital Women Journalists Association, Beijing Young Women's Christian Association, Beijing Women Artists Association, Beijing Women's Association for International Exchanges, Beijing Women Kindergarten Principals Association, Beijing Women Entrepreneurs Association of Women Entrepreneurs, Capital Women Financiers Association; and Beijing Women and Children's Development Foundation.

 

In her speech on behalf of the BWF, Tan extended festive greetings and wishes to all group members and hailed their tremendous efforts to focus on the overall work of the capital city on women, leverage their own strengths, and work together with the BWF on making a number of achievements. She urged them to meet the pressing needs of high concern for women and children, strengthen collaboration, and carry forward the high-quality development of women and children's affairs.

 

During a self-organized artistic performance, representatives of the BWF's group members presented a wide range of shows, which included singing, dancing, poetry recitation, painting and musical instrument playing, to highlight their talent and demonstrate their firm belief as well as unity in marching ahead.

 

The event also featured interactive activities such as traditional incense making and traditional costume culture experience, which allowed attendees to further appreciate the charm of traditional Chinese culture. The special gathering helps promote the exchanges and mutual learning among women from all social sectors, and pool the strength of the BWF's group members toward writing a vibrant chapter for the cause of women and children in the capital city.
