On May 25, 2013, with the encouraging drums of Mentougou female Taiping drum performance team, “Build harmonious family and realize beautiful dream” — the opening ceremony of Capital Family Culture and Art Festival & Vigorous Walk Activity for Chinese and Foreign Families was held in Mencheng Lake Park, Mentougou District by Beijing Women’s Federation together with Beijing Walking Association and the people’s government of Mentougou District. More than 600 international friends and family representatives participated in the activity, including representatives of capital harmonious families, diplomats of Embassy in China and their families, foreign experts in Beijing and their families and overseas students from over 20 countries.

The activity went through two parts: launch ceremony and walk around the park. The total length of the route to walk around the park is about 3 kilometers, and it is designed around the water area of Mencheng Lake. There were over ten theme activity areas on both sides of the path. Both Chinese and foreign families participating in the activity could not only enjoy the beautiful scenery of mountain and water and experience various activities integrating Beijing traditional culture and international characteristics, but also build up body, enjoy the nature and obtain spiritual and cultural nutrition through participation.

By taking the opportunity of international family day, Beijing Women’s Federation holds the brand foreign affairs activity of capital women — “Chinese and Foreign Families Spending International Family Day Together” every May. This year, Beijing Women’s Federation organized activities focusing on the theme of 2013 international family day of the United Nations — “Advancing Social Integration and Intergenerational Solidarity”, and ecological civilization advocated by the Women’s Federation in 2013.
