Foreign Friends Actively Participating in Warm-up Interaction of the Activity
Fred who came from Tunisia has been studying for one year in Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications for his master’s degree. He and his friends from Nigeria, Pakistan, Japan, Australia, Iran and other countries participated in the opening ceremony of Capital Family Culture and Art Festival & Vigorous Walk Activity for Chinese and Foreign Families held in Mencheng Lake Park, Mentougou District of Beijing recently.
Fred said it was his first time to come to Mencheng Lake Park. “The place is very beautiful”. He had studied Chinese for three years before coming to China and could already communicate with reporters in Chinese fluently. He said, “Whenever my foreign friends ask me how China is and how Beijing is, I tell them it’s very good both for studying and traveling. I love China and Chinese people”. Fred likes playing basketball and football with Chinese friends. He said he played football very well although he was not good at basketball.
Before the activity started, Pang Siyuan, who was only three years and two months old and came to the activity with parents, was sitting on the ground and playing with other children. Her mother told the reporters that she and her husband would like to take Pang Siyuan to play outdoors as long as they had time on weekends to make her close to the nature. They lived in Shijingshan District but found Mencheng Lake Park through this activity, a new place they can go. “It took us over 20 minutes to drive here. We’re glad to come here with our child later if we have time for it is really beautiful,” Pang Siyuan’s mother said.
The route was around water area of Mencheng Lake and was about three kilometers. There were nine theme activity areas on both sides of the path, including folk skills performance area, family dream wishes area, “Beautiful Beijing, Beautiful Balcony” activity promotion area, Women Artists’ handicrafts exhibition area, “Freehand Sketching, My Dream” children’s drawing area, knowledge corridor of water resource, etc.
Participants could take photos with “Polaroid” at the destination and get souvenir after the whole course was finished. Zhang Jiqing, a student of the fifth grade, “led” his father, aunt and grandparents to take part in the activity. After finishing the three-kilometer vigorous walk, they took photos in front of Yongding Building happily. Zhang Jiqing’s father said that they could hardly have time to exercise together at ordinary times because he was busy with his work and they would have dinner outside to enjoy the leisure time that day. In Zhang Jiqing’s eye, his father loved exercise best in his family while in his father’s eye, the grandfather was the exercise star of his family. That was a really harmonious family.
It is known that Beijing Women’s Federation holds “Chinese and Foreign Families Spending International Family Day Together” activity every May by taking the opportunity of international family day. The activity was carried out around the theme of 2013 international family day of the United Nations – “Advancing Social Integration and Intergenerational Solidarity”, and ecological civilization advocated by Beijing Women’s Federation in 2013, aiming at creating new civilized family mode to promote harmonious coexistence between family members, between family and the society and between family and the nature, at the same time, sharing the health and joy brought by family culture and harmony and happiness of urban civilization with foreign friends from all over the world and Beijing citizens.
