Improvement of Women's Status Attracts More Int'l Women to Experience Local Developments 

 

To mark the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China; celebrate the 2019 Chinese New Year, also known as Year of the Pig; and, disseminate the achievements in women's causes made by females in the capital, Beijing Women's International Center (BWIC) and China Radio International (CRI) News Radio of the China Media Group, jointly launched a special program during Spring Festival.

 

As part of the program, MohadesehBarzegar from Iran, who is currently doing her doctoral studies in Beijing; Gail Zilberboim, producer and presenter of Radio Beijing International; and, Wang Dawei, deputy director of the Institute of Communication and Culture of Peking University, were invited to talk about the changes that have taken place over the past 70 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

 

They also spoke about their perceptions of the improvement of women's status and their expectations for the New Year. This outstanding series of interviews aired on CRI News Radio (FM 90.5) during prime time on the third and fourth nights of the Chinese Lunar New Year. They were also broadcast concurrently via CRI News on the streaming app Himalaya and Dragonfly FM, reaching a total of more than 40 million listeners.

 

Upcoming programs will continue to invite female friends from across the world to share their new insights into the changes that have taken place in China and the achievements obtained in the cause of women's development over the past 70 years since the founding of PRC. The programs will also showcase the new achievements Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) has made in terms of integrating high-quality resources at home and abroad, implementing gender equality and improving the status of women.
