Myanmar NLD Delegation Visits the BWF

 

Officials from the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) met with a delegation from the Myanmar National League for Democracy (NLD) in Beijing on July 1.

 

The delegation was led by Dr. Shwe Pon, Member of the Myanmar NLD Central Committee and Member of the NLD Central Women's Committee andMember of the House of Representatives (Lower House),as they paid avisit to the BWF with the aim of learning about the development of and work on womenand children in theChinesecapital.

 

Zhao Hongwei, Vice-President of the BWF, extended warm welcome to the delegation and accompanied the Myanmar delegates to visit the Beijing Women and Children's Service Center.

 

The delegation visited the showroom for family growth where they tried their hands on devices and software, including the online educationplatform and the test system for comprehensive sports skills, learning about scientific and technological approaches to help raise children's safety awareness and assess their physical ability.

 

Members of the delegation also visited the housekeeping studio designed for home nursing, cooking and tea art training.

 

After learning about the curriculum and teaching methods, Myanmar delegates praised BWF for its professionaland advanced training system.

 

"The Beijing Women's Federation have yielded fruitful outcome in terms of serving women and children, and there are lots of experience for us to draw on,"said Shwe Pon.

 

"The next year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of China-Myanmardiplomatic relationship, our visit to Beijing has come about in just the right time,"she added.

 

According to Zhao, China and Myanmar are good neighbors and the two peoples maintain a profound "Paukphaw" (sisterhood) friendship. 

 

Myanmar, an important country involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI),has established diplomatic ties with China since 1949, and in this regard, Zhao hopes the BWF can extensively engage with women organizations in Myanmar extensively through expanding exchange and cooperation, and seize the opportunities brought by the BRI construction, so as to achieve the goal of promoting mutual development of women in two countries.

 

"Myanmar is willing toactively conduct interactions at all levels and people-to-people cultural exchanges under the BRI framework,"Shwe Ponesaid.

 

Representatives of the Beijing Sanba Service Center and the Beijing Women's International Center also joined in the event.
