Chinese and Foreign Families Celebrate International Day of Families

Promoting family harmony, happiness and progress is the be-all and end-all of the International Day of Families, which is observed on May 15 every year. With the global challenge brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, families from all over the world living in Beijing could not get together but they meet online thanks toan online activity with the theme "One World·One Family". The activity was designed to build a platform for people to share their experiences, thoughts and visions, and for Chinese and foreign families to spend the day together.

One World

Mother and daughter who are both nurses, couple working on the front lineto fight the epidemic and foreign friends joining hands to fight against the epidemic ... Wherever we are, each of us is a  part of the world family and also part of a community with a shared future. Only through unity and cooperation can human win the battle against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and create a better and happier life together.

Family is a warm harbor and family is a source of strength. Eight families from China and other countries produced short videos to tell their stories.

Journey to Home

The activity also customized two games on H5 interactive pages to allow all members of afamily to participate, enjoying their time together. In the first game, One Family·Happiness for All, one can create a unique family photo with a special pattern for the International Day of Families; the second game,One World·Journey to Home, requires players to use the phone's gravity sensor to complete a maze challenge to arrive at "home" and receive wishes from families of different countries.

The online celebration was sponsored by the Beijing Women's Federation and the Foreign AffairsOffice ofthe People's Government of Beijing Municipality, supported by the Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges and organized by the Beijing Women's International Center andGuangming Online.
