Beijing Women's Federation calls for women's equal cultural rights at the 49th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

As a member of Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges, Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) attended via video link a discussion about cultural rights at the 49th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). Forty representatives from international organizations and the United States, Britain and other countries spoke during the discussion.

In the speech, BWFs representative called on the international community to pay attention to the active efforts made by the Chinese people and the Chinese government to promote women's equal enjoyment of sports rights around the world during the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, and encouraged more international organizations and governments to create a more inclusive social environment for women's equal cultural rights.

The Human Rights Council is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe. The Council is made up of 47 United Nations Member States which are elected by the UN General Assembly. It holds regular sessions in March, June, and September every year. The BWF will further leverage its advantages as a women's federation and lead women to join activities in global human rights governance and international exchanges based on practices of women's development in Beijing that raise strength for building a community with a shared future for mankind.
