China's Social Organizations Share Experience in Protection of Women and Children’s Rights, Interests at 49th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council

Recently many of the nation's social organizations delivered remarks about their concepts and practices for the protection of Chinese women and children's rights and interests via video link at the 49th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

 

The Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges pointed out the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022's positive effect on promoting women's equal enjoyment of sports rights. It called on the international community to create a more inclusive social environment for women's cultural equality.

 

The Chinese Association for International Understanding gave an account of protecting the rights and interests of women of all ethnic groups in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, saying that women there are embracing an improved employment environment, and they "hold up half the sky" in the region's economic and social construction.

 

The China Soong Ching Ling Foundation reported their work on an innovative demonstration project cosponsored with the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Volunteers Programme to build a shared future for mankind by involving youth participation in sustainable development. It is looking forward to make a contribution to children's development.

 

The China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation and Beijing Chunhui Childrens Foundation introduced their practices in response to the rural revitalization strategy, which include establishing and improving an educational assistance mechanism for students from rural areas. The organizations also shared experience in providing free meals for children in developing countries such as Ethiopia and Nepal and securing the right to food for children.

 

The Beijing Light Charity Foundation and the Beijing Children's Legal Aid and Research Center reported their efforts on facilitating public sports, offering help to children with disabilities, and calling for international cooperation to eliminate violence against kids.
