On July 19, the 2026 Beijing Women’s Domestic Service Vocational Skills Competition kicked off at the Beijing Women and Children Social Service Center. The event was jointly organized by the Beijing Women’s Federation, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, and the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions, and co-organized by the Beijing Homemaking Service Association and the Beijing Women and Children Social Service Center.

As a key event following the establishment of the “Better Life Academy” Alliance, the competition was themed “Building Dreams with Skills, Safeguarding Families with Craftsmanship, Striving to Become Outstanding Women Domestic Service Professionals.” It aimed to focus on cultivating skilled female domestic service professionals, leveraging the competition to drive practice, learning, and continuous improvement. Ultimately, it seeks to build a highly skilled, professional, standardized, and career-oriented domestic service workforce in the capital, ensuring a better quality of life for local families.

The competition featured four core categories: maternal and infant care, family caregiving, household services, and home organization and storage. It also included two professional showcase categories for domestic service trainers and managers. Covering the key areas of domestic services, the event provided a comprehensive assessment of the participants’ professional expertise and overall capabilities.

Beyond its broad participation and comprehensive categories, the competition highlighted the ongoing optimization of the industry’s talent structure. A total of 202 female professionals from 87 domestic service enterprises registered for the event. Notably, younger professionals have become increasingly prominent; those born in the 1980s accounted for 42.08% of all participants, emerging as a major force in the industry. Participants born in the 1990s and 2000s made up 20.8%, injecting fresh vitality into the sector.

The competition also showcased a strong presence of highly educated talent. Participants with an associate degree or above accounted for 73.76% of the total, including nine master’s degree holders and 63 bachelor’s degree holders. Particularly noteworthy is that more than 60% of the participants born in the 1990s hold a bachelor’s degree or above, underscoring the growing professional and educational advantages of the younger generation of domestic service workers.

The competition is divided into two phases: the preliminary round and the final round. As the first phase of the 2026 Beijing Women’s Domestic Service Vocational Skills Competition, the preliminary round comprehensively tested the participants’ professional competence and practical skills. After a full day of intense yet orderly competition, all contestants successfully completed the preliminary assessments, demonstrating solid expertise and a positive professional spirit.

According to the schedule, the final round will be held on July 24. Top performers from each category will gather again to compete at a higher level. Let us look forward to further achievements by these outstanding women as they advance their skills and careers.
