A women lecturers’ group organized by Beijing Women’s Federation (BWF) held a lecture at Beihang University, in Beijing on May 17. The ceremony drew the attendance of Zhang Yajun, secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and president of the BWF, Huang Saixi, head of the sixth steering group for the education campaign on the study and implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era from the Communist Party of China (CPC) Beijing Municipal Committee and Zhao Hongwei, member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and vice-president of the BWF. Cheng Bo, deputy Party secretary of Beihang University, presided over the event. Nearly 200 people, including representatives of women professors and students from Beihang University, attended.

Prior to the lectures, Zhao Changlu, Party secretary of Beihang University, and Liu Shuchun, vice-president and chairman of the trade unions of Beihang University, met with the five speakers.

In her speech, Zhang said that women from all economic and social sectors have written a splendid chapter with their unique wisdom and strength in showing loyalty to the CPC, and by striving for excellence on the new journey for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. She said that to share the stories and spirits of women role models, BWF organized representatives of delegates to the 20th CPC National Congress, winners of the March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetters and Holders awards and Most Beautiful Women Strivers title to give public lecturers. As the first university specializing in aeronautics and astronautics in New China, Beihang University has cultivated many talents for economic development and the cause of national defense.

Noting that many women teachers and scientists have become an indispensable force of the country's efforts to promote sci-tech innovation and achieve self-reliance in relevant fields, Zhang called on students from Beihang University to follow in the footsteps of role models, incorporate personal dreams and wisdom into the great cause of the CPC and the people, and strive to usher in a new chapter in the new era.

Five women delegates to the 20th National Congress of the CPC related their personal experience of studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, and shared their endeavors to make achievements in the workplace.

 

Qian Suyun, a National March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetter, member of the Party Committee of Beijing Children's Hospital (National Center for Children's Health) Affiliated to Capital Medical University and honorary director of the intensive care unit (ICU) and teaching & research office for internal medicine at the hospital, has saved the lives of over 20,000 patients in critical condition with her excellent medical skills and high occupational ethics over the past few decades. In her remarks, she said that the protection of children's health bears great importance to the realization of the great dream of national rejuvenation. She will fulfill her personal duties in promoting the implementation of the Healthy China Initiative and in the high-quality development of pediatrics.

Cong Huimin, a National March 8th Red-Banner Holder and vice-director of the Beijing Dairy Cattle Centre (BDCC) under Beijing Capital Agribusiness & Foods Group, has witnessed the notable development of the dairy industry in the capital city over the decades. She said that she will proactively respond to the call of the key Party congress and continuously implement the special action on invigorating the seed industry to ensure that the rice bowls of the Chinese people will always be full.

Lu Yongli, a National March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetter and principal of Beijing No.2 Experimental Primary School, talked about how to deliver satisfactory education to the people on the basis of her own decade-long work experience and personal understanding of the five characteristics in advancing Chinese modernization.

Li Meng, a Women Pacesetter for Achievements at the national level and a pump technician at the Dongcheng District Sanitation Center, said that she will continuously carry forward the spirit of Shi Chuanxiang, the country's first-generation model worker who spent 40 years shoveling waste out of public toilets before modern plumbing, and will contribute more efforts to building the capital city into a world-class living place.

Qingele Jirigele, a National March 8th Red-banner Holder and chief scientist from the Shougang Research Institute of Technology, has worked on the front line of sci-tech research for 18 years. She said that as long as one works hard, he/she will achieve personal value in the midst of promoting the country’s development.

During the event, attending officials presented a book about the interactions between Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, and the people during his domestic inspection tours to representatives of teachers and students at Beihang University.

The lecturers’ spirits of fighting with difficulties and pursuing excellence and innovation deeply touched participants. For their part, participants said that the event helped them better understand the importance of the education campaign on the study and implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and added that they will bear in mind the expectations of Xi, carry forward the founding spirit of Beihang University and advance the building of a strong socialist country and the realization of the great dream of national rejuvenation.
